At Little Rock Junior Cotillion, Inc., our core objective is to cultivate confidence and social competence in young individuals through comprehensive instruction in social etiquette, ballroom dancing, and leadership development.

Our mission is to empower youth by fostering a strong sense of self-assurance and community engagement. We firmly believe that proficiency in social skills and deportment provides the necessary foundation for navigating diverse environments with poise and confidence, which naturally reflects in an individual's overall demeanor and interaction.

At LRJC, girls wear gloves not as a social requirement or fashion statement, but to help students feel more comfortable shaking hands and dancing with their peers. In our experience, gloves help reduce tension and make dancing a more relaxed and enjoyable experience—especially for younger students. They also provide the added benefit of minimizing the spread of germs.

Gloves suitable for events like the LRJC can be found at The Toggery, Bridal Stores, Amazon, Party City, Gloves on Line, and other locations. Whether you're preparing for a cotillion or another special occasion, these stores offer a variety of options.

Adolescent psychological studies show that children begin learning social skills at birth and continue developing them throughout their lives. Cotillion educators believe that the earlier these skills are introduced, the more confident and well-prepared children become. Based on this understanding, our program begins in the fifth grade—a time when students naturally start to replace early awkwardness with respect, consideration, and self-assurance. Cotillion offers a safe, structured, and encouraging environment where children build positive habits and learn how to interact respectfully and thoughtfully with others.

Applications for the fifth-grade class open on February 1 of the student’s fourth-grade year. Applications for new sixth, seventh, and eighth-grade students are accepted year-round. While there is no formal deadline, applying early significantly improves your chances of participating in Little Rock Junior Cotillion events.

The Legacy priority acceptance deadline is March 1. Legacy applications submitted after this date will be processed in the order they are received, with priority given to rising fifth-grade students interested in Little Rock Junior Cotillion. All other applications will be processed according to the waiting list.

Legacy students are fifth graders whose parent or older sibling completed four years of Little Rock Junior Cotillion, or who have an older sibling currently enrolled in the program. This older sibling must remain enrolled in the program for this application to maintain Legacy Status.

To ensure all families receive their invitations, digital invitations for Little Rock Junior Cotillion will be emailed in May and posted on the website, while hard copy invitations will be mailed via USPS in June. Once a student is accepted into the program, they are automatically enrolled for the following year, so reapplication for LRJC is not required.

Of course! Over the years, Little Rock Junior Cotillion has welcomed students with physical or learning challenges, and these experiences have been rewarding for both our instructors and the children. We ask that parents reach out to us in advance to discuss any special needs so we can ensure the best possible experience.

Tuition for the 2026 Little Rock Junior Cotillion is $275, due in full no later than 1 June.

Payment plans are available, but must be completed by the tuition deadline; students may not be admitted if the balance is not paid, and partial payments are non-refundable.

There is a $40 application fee for new students, which is applied toward the total tuition of $275.

At Little Rock Junior Cotillion, our staff are trained to step in as partners when student ratios do not match. This ensures students can mix partners, keeps the dance floor lively, and gives every child the opportunity to dance with more than one partner. Changing partners throughout the class is an important part of our curriculum, helping students build confidence, adaptability, and strong social skills.

Parents and guardians are welcome to chaperone the Holly Ball, portion of the Little Rock Junior Cotillion season. The dress code for chaperones aligns with that of the students, though flowers and gloves are not required for the adults.

If a student misses a session of Little Rock Junior Cotillion, they may arrive 15 minutes early to the next session for a makeup. Please have your child inform us that they are there for a makeup session.
